Sirius is a white star in the constellation Canis Major, which is why also known as the “Dog Star”.
It is the brightest star in the night sky. Has a mass of 2.4 times that of our Sun and is also much hotter: its temperature of 9400 K is the impression of an intense white.
Its glow night does not fail to fascinate man since the dawn of time, in fact, Sirius was venerated by virtually all ancient civilizations.
But it is only its brightness to attract the attention of mankind, or is there something more?
Several artifacts of ancient civilizations reveal that Sirius was considered of great importance for astronomy, mythology and the occult. In the oldest book of the Vedas, Sirius was known as “Star Cape”; Hindus in other writings, is referred to as the home of the rain god, or Star of Rain.
Even the ancient Egyptians lent particular attention to Sirius, identifying it with the soul of the goddess Isis, sister Nephthys, Seth and Osiris, of which he was also married and with whom she had Horus.
In fact, for the Egyptians Sirius was not only important, but it was the foundation of the entire astronomical religious system. His appearance in the sky was accompanied with feasts and celebrations.
Some researchers have proposed that the Great Pyramid was built in perfect alignment with the stars, in particular with its Sirius. One of the ducts of the “Queen’s Chamber” would be targeted specifically toward the Dog Star.
Interestingly, there was a time when Sirius was not visible in the sky of Egypt. This condition is caused by the phenomenon known as ” precession “, a very slow movement of the Earth that causes a particular effect: the landscape stellar swings back and forth like a pendulum.
Twelve thousand years before Christ, observing the sky from the plateau of Giza, Sirius was below the horizon. He made his first appearance in the skies of this place around 10,500 BC
According to a study produced by the Italian researcher Giulio Magli andpublished on arXiv.org , also the pillars of the megalithic sanctuary of Gobekli Tepe appear to be aligned with the point at which there is the star Sirius. The latitude of Gobekli Tepe, Sirius would have remained hidden below the horizon until 9300 BC, then ‘tick’ in the sky suddenly. “My theory is that the temple of Gobekli Tepe was built to celebrate the ‘birth’ of the new star,” said Magli.
The enigma of the Dogon
In Mali, West Africa, there is a population, the Dogon, known for his knowledge on the star Sirius that would be considered impossible without the use of a telescope.
They passed a creation myth in which the protagonist is a being from the star Po Tolo (Sirius B), revered as the god Amma. The Dogon claim to be his descendants.
In 1947, after living with Dagon for more than seventeen years, the French anthropologist Marcel Griaule brought a truly amazing story. Tribal elders revealed to Griaule one of their most closely guarded secrets, hidden even to most of the tribal community.
The leaders told how the Nommo, an amphibious species, half fish and half-human, have founded an ancient civilization on Earth. Despite their primitive culture, the elderly Dagon say they have received a deep knowledge of the solar system by one of the mysterious Nommo.
Older people are aware of the four moons of Jupiter, the rings of Saturn and are aware of the spiral shape of the Milky Way, and they know they are the planets move around the sun and not vice versa.
But what is most disconcerting ethnologists is the knowledge of the orbits of Dagon, the size and density of the stars of the Sirius system. The Dogon have thoroughly confirmed the existence of Sirius A, B and C, the knowledge that modern science has only recently acquired.
Sirius C remained unknown until 1995, when astronomers noticed the gravitational influence that this has on the movement of the whole system.
Yet, for hundreds of years, the primitive Dagon, were not aware of the three stars, but I also knew some details. Whence came this knowledge?
The mythological system of the Dogon is strikingly similar to that of other great civilizations, like the Sumerians, Egyptians and Babylonians, as the myth is split archetype creative intervention of the gods from above, which, through the intervention of ” large masters “(as Enki to the Sumerians, Horus by the Egyptians, the Greeks Hermes Trismegistus, Quetzalcoatl for Maya, etc …), have “donated” civilization man.
Read: Mali. Travel between the Dogon: the people of the stars Vittorio Franchini
[ Available on IBS ] In the early decades of the ‘900 was known, in Europe, that the region of Mali today, there lived a mysterious people and belligerent, in which teritorio was better not to go into. Further studies have uncovered that the people of hunter-warriors, the Dogon, whose villages are situated at the foot of a rocky Dante’s fault that isolates them from the rest of the world, was the bearer of an ancient, fascinating but also incomprehensible cosmic civilization.
In this new work Vittorio Franchini, traveling through other peoples of Mali, Dogon reaches to decipher, thanks to the stories of ‘Hogon’, the elderly, women, the contours of a religion that has its roots in the time and that seems to come from deep space. Thanks to his friendship with some of the “older”, could also visit, although not obliged to reveal the location, one of the sacred caves, where we collect sacred masks.
These are real star charts that show how the astronomical knowledge of this enigmatic people, is accurate. The path of the author unfolds almost like a science fiction story in chaos rocky valley, cove the Great Truth is still hidden in the minds of a few essays and in the crevices of the fault that collect the remains of other ancient peoples too mysteriously wrapped in epic legends.
Occultism and Freemasonry
The association of Sirius with the divine, which considers the Dog Star as the home of origin of ” great masters “, is a knowledge survived until today, widespread especially in the world of the occult and Masonic.
The Sirius Mystery schools considered as “the Sun behind the Sun”: as the heat of the sun keeps alive the physical world, so Sirius keeps alive the spirit world. It is the “true light” that illuminates the spirit, as well as the Sun illuminates the physical world, considered to be an illusion.
Even some modern secret societies such as the Freemasons, the Rosicrucians (who base their knowledge on the teachings of Hermes Trismegistus ) have paid tribute to Sirius the utmost importance. An educated eye to their symbolism provides an insight into the profound connection between Sirius and occult doctrines.
So, to say simply that Sirius is important for hermetic orders is an understatement. The Dog Star is the central point of the teachings and symbolism of secret societies.
In Masonic lodges, Sirius is known as the “Blazing Star”: “is the first and most exalted object which requires our attention in the lodges,” writes the author Masonic William Hutchinson.
It is the omnipresence of the Creator and his omniscience.
Sirius is a symbol of the “sacred”, the source of divine power and divine destination of individuals.
To achieve perfection, the initiate must understand and internalize the dual nature of the world: good and evil, male female, black and white, etc …) through the alchemical transformation. This concept is symbolically represented by the union of Osiris and Isis (the male and female), to give birth to Horus, the perfect man of Freemasonry.
Since the dawn of civilization to modern times, from the remote tribes of the great capitals of the modern world, Sirius was and still is seen as a giver of life and wisdom. Despite the distance in time and space, various cultures have attributed to Sirius the same meaning.
The question is: how is it possible that the meaning of Sirius is combined in a manner so cross between the various human cultures? There is a common source of these original myths on Sirius? There is a secret link between human evolution and the Dog Star? The solution to this mystery may be the answer to one of the most important questions of human beings: where we come from?
